Junior Designer

FIRST YEAR

You do not need any prior vocational experience, anyone can apply. At Level 1 of Graphic Design course at Switch, students learn fundamental design principles and gradually apply them to actual projects. The course focuses mainly on quality as well as the project structure. Each project is analysed through basic design principles like balance, hierarchy, grid, color theory…

Having completed Level 1 with a minimum score of 85%, students are awarded the job title of Switch Junior Graphic Designer. Not only do students gain formal education, they also receive a certificate stating working hours in accordance with the time spent in Switch design studios (hands-on experience) as a result of working hard on real-world projects.Graphic Design Course Florence Italy.

GD2
Senior Designer

SECOND YEAR

At this level, students apply their previous knowledge and practical experience to real-world projects. They work in teams with Senior Art Directors (professors), Junior Art Directors and Junior Designers. They use the latest tools, technologies and knowledge in developing and carrying out their projects through the whole creative process from ideas to final products (print, digital product, website, application, etc.) 

Having completed Level 2, students are fully capable of working on their own in the real world of design industry, both as individuals or in teams, with a minimum score of 85%, students are awarded the job title of Switch Senior Graphic Designer. Our standards have been set to guarantee the quality in design industry and will likely become relevant criteria when assessing staff proficiency.

THIRD YEAR

Switch students (EXCLUSIVELY) who wish, and are advised, to practice more professional Graphic Design courses can register for the GD III Program to further expand their knowledge in graphics, illustration, branding, interactivity, multimedia, 3D, programming and language. At this stage students could be also sent for internships in famous design industries in Florence.

Junior Art Director

MASTER

Leaders, explorers, educators!

Students work on real-world projects but with a different approach which is scientifically-based and grounded on thorough researches. Students work on their own publications according to their field of study and on improving design theory.

At Switch, they have the job title of Junior Art Director and are leaders in working on real-world projects. They control the work of undergraduate designers, take an active part in educational process (as assistant lecturers) and thus gain teaching experience as well.

Master students attend all lectures occasionally taking an active part. Our standards have been set to guarantee the quality in design industry and will likely become relevant criteria when assessing staff proficiency.

Having completed Master level, students are fully capable of working on their own in the real world of design industry, both as individuals or in teams.

SUMMER SCHOOL

The summer course is a month long intensive program in graphic design. It provides a full overview of fundamental graphic design principles, from conceptual design to final execution. Perfect for students with no prior design experience, the curriculum offers a complete instruction in visual communication through lectures, exercises, and multi-layered final project.
